Top 5 Foods for Healthy Skin

Top 5 Foods for Healthy Skin

1. Oranges
Loaded with water, so they hydrate your skin and your cells. One large orange is an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps keep skin supple and fight against free radicals.

2. Avocados
Avocados are filled with monounsaturated fats, vitamin c, vitamin e, and antioxidant carotenoids . All of these key ingredients help with elasticity, fights against free radicals, and keeps skin hydrated.

3.Grapes
Grapes are loaded with phytochemicals and phytonutrients which possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Grapes are also rich in vitamin C. Grapes help in toning the skin and help reverse the appearance of wrinkles.

4. Sweet Potatoes
They have large amounts of beta carotene, an antioxidant whose red, yellow, and orange pigments can be seen on many vegetables in their vibrant colors. Beta carotene's protective qualities defend against the damage that sun exposure will cause.

5. Sunflower Seeds
Slow down the development of saggy, wrinkled skin by spooning sunflower seeds over salad or yogurt. These seeds are replete with vitamin E, which decelerates the aging of skin cells.

Keep Your Skin Healthy and Smooth During Winter

*Water is good for your overall health and for your skin, especially in the colder months. We tend to drink less water in the winter because we turn to hot drinks like cocoa and tea, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out.

*Wear gloves and scarves to protect skin from cold winds, rain, and snow. Don’t forget the sunscreen. Winter sun can be just as damaging as summer sun.

*Dryer areas like hands, feet, elbows, and knees have thin skin and tend to lose moisture faster than other areas on the body. Consider slathering on a deep moisturizing balm at night, then wear cotton gloves and socks to seal in the moisture until morning. And use exfoliants to get the dead skin off periodically; that helps any moisturizers you use to sink in faster and deeper. Do this at least once a week to keep your feet spring-ready all winter long!

*A 20-minute long, boiling-hot shower might feel great on a cold day, but stick to warm or lukewarm water. A hot shower or bath actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture.

*Load up on vitamin C-rich produce. Vitamin C can help boost the body’s production of collagen, a protein that maintains skin and other connective tissues. Also consider an omega-3 supplement, or consume more fatty fish and flaxseed to give your skin the building blocks it needs to appear supple and smooth.
